Calm Hearts Counseling is a private pay provider and does not accept insurance at this time. We can provide you with a superbill (receipt) to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement for out-of-network costs. Please speak with your insurance provider if you qualify for out-of-network reimbursements. Additionally, please speak with us if you plan to submit a superbill, as you will be required to disclose specific information related to your mental health care to your insurance company.

How do I start therapy & long will I be in therapy?

This depends on what you’re seeking and the intensity of what brings you to therapy.

In most cases, we will meet for 4-6 weekly sessions to lay the foundation to ensure long-term success, after which we will agree to the frequency of appointments, usually every other week until symptoms decrease. We will check in periodically during sessions, exploring what you’re needing more or less of, ensuring our time together is on track to help you meet your goals for therapy.

Can I just come see you once-in-awhile?

Therapy is an investment of time and money, and it’s understandable you may want to casually come on an as-needed basis. However, this slows progress and limits outcomes.

Research shows that attending sessions infrequently ends up costing us more in the long-run and decreases therapy’s effectiveness. We do not offer appointments on an as-needed basis unless it has been arranged and agreed upon after attending successive sessions and consistently progressing toward treatment goals.

Who do you work with?

Calm Hearts Counseling works with individuals ages 16+, men and women, with a special focus on tending to the psychological well-being of adult women.

We do work with couples within the context of fertility counseling, reproductive loss, and traumatic loss.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions? Or both?

Sessions are in-person at our offices in the Dobson Ranch Corridor in Mesa, Arizona. Telehealth (video) appointments are conveniently available throughout Arizona.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is 48 office hours, with the office being closed weekends. As an example: If you have an appointment on Monday at 1pm, you will need to cancel before 1pm the Thursday prior. A cancellation made after 48 hours will be charged the full fee of session, as we commit to holding your appointment time just for you. Telehealth options are always conveniently available if you’re having a last-minute scheduling snafu or if you’re not feeling well the day-of session. We’ll do our best to reschedule you within the same week, if possible. It is important to maintain consistency in attending therapy, understanding that us holding your appointment is a commitment to your progress in therapy.

Am I able to integrate my faith or spiritual views into therapy?

Absolutely! Faith formation and spiritual values are deeply personal. Whether spirituality or faith is a vital part of your life, if you are navigating a faith transition, or you have experienced religious trauma, or perhaps religious influences have had no bearing on your journey, we are equipped and available to honor your preferences and requests.

If I’m working with a psychiatric or medical provider, are you able and willing to coordinate with them?

Absolutely! With a signed Release of Information (ROI), we are ready to coordinate care with additional providers as part of your mental health care team, ensuring that you receive the highest level or coordinated care.
